EAST LIVERPOOL - Gloria Jean Laughlin, 79 of East Liverpool, passed away at her residence Friday, May 16, 2014, following a lengthy illness. She was born in East Liverpool on Jan. 2, 1935, a daughter to the late Frank E. and Dorothy M. (Chapman) Krafft.
Mrs. Laughlin worked in manufacturing at American Paper Products and as a clerk for the former Hills Department Store. She was a member of Boyce Methodist Church, enjoyed working with plastic and was an avid puzzle solver.
She is survived at home by her husband, Jack B. Laughlin, whom she married Oct. 22, 1972; a son: Jeffrey Scott Laughlin and his girlfriend Dawn Potts of East Liverpool; two stepsons: Jack B. Laughlin Jr. of West Virginia and Mark D. Laughlin of Columbia, S.C.; two stepdaughters: Dawn Laughlin Ball and Susan M. Laughlin Richards both of East Liverpool; one sister: Kathryn "Katie" Creaturo of Virginia Beach, Va.; one granddaughter: Paige N. Laughlin of East Liverpool; six step-grandchildren: Jason Walker and his wife April of East Liverpool, Dustie Lawrence Pokorny and her husband Bobby of Cleveland, Jacob Lawrence and his wife Susan of Fort Railey, Kan., Michael Laughlin of West Virginia, Lonnie Laughlin of East Liverpool, and Travis Laughlin of South Carolina; one great-grandchild: Kendall Laughlin; and five step great-grandchildren: Gavin, Caleb and Jeramie Walker, Bailey Pokorny and Connor Lawrence.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Jack B. Laughlin III.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Alvin Talkington of the church officiating. Burial will take place in Shadow Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
