CHESTER - Roy Lee Young, 72, of Chester, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
Born Dec. 31, 1941, in Ravenswood, W.Va., he was the son of the late Samuel and Beulah (Peters) Young.
Roy worked for Homer Laughlin China Co and was a social member of the Newell and Chester Legion and the VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, brothers, Samuel and Gene Young; and a sister, Ida Lamp.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte (Grose) Young of Chester; two sons, Robert Young and Stephen Young of Chester; two daughters, Pam (Terry) Miller of Chester, and Tina Jackson of Lisbon; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lewis Young of West Virginia, Charlie Young of Chester and Denzel Young of Michigan; and six sisters, Audrey Bosworth of Newell, Nina Wright of West Virginia, Gertie Hartman of Michigan, Lucile Burdette of West Virginia, Margaret Coleman of West Virginia, and Pauline Dennis of Florida.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester.
