WOOSTER, Ohio - Verna J. (Brown) Wolfe, 84 formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Morehead, Ky., on March 14, 1930, a daughter to the late Bert and Mina (McCormick) Brown. She lived her entire life in this area before moving to Wooster. Mrs. Wolfe was employed at Hall China before she retired in 1995. She attended high school and the Ohio Valley Business College and was a member of the Church of God in East Liverpool. She enjoyed reading her Bible, collecting Red Bird figurines, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Thomas Wolfe (Beverly) of Canton, and Steve Wolfe of Calcutta; two daughters: Fay Kleinhenz (James) of Navarre, Ohio, and Susie Crall (Gary) of Smithville, Ohio; two brothers: Jim Brown (Judy) and Jack Brown (Doris) both of Salineville; three sisters: Joan Copps of Boston, Ga., Rose Stella of Orlando, Fla., and Barbara Mays of Salem; a sister-in-law: Ruth Brown of Salineville; 10 grandchildren: Tom Wolfe, Sarah Wolfe, Jill, Jennifer and Kimberly Kleinhenz, Josh, Dan and Jeff Crall, Stephen and Aaron Wolfe; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Wolfe, whom she married March 17, 1950; a brother, Bill Brown; and a sister, Jewell Pickens.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor David Dickenson of Destiny House Assembly of God officiating. Burial will follow in Longs Run Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel on Saturday from 12:30 up until the time of the service.
