LISBON - Hearings were set on April 17 in Columbiana County Municipal Court Tuesday for two men arrested in Salem on Monday following an alleged attempted robbery and subsequent search of an apartment on North Lincoln Avenue.
An April 17 preliminary hearing was set for Matthew W. Juillerat, 22, North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, charged with robbery, a second-degree felony. He is accused of approaching a Guatemalan couple near Sparkle Market bearing a 7.5-inch blade. According to court documents, Juillerat placed his hands on the man, Mario Juan, and demanded his wallet.
A fight ensued, which led to the woman, Ursula Francisco Mateo, having a superficial wound from the knife to her ring finger, police said. Juillerat was found by Salem police hiding in the basement of a residence at 366 S. Lincoln Ave., reportedly his mother's home.
Salem police and the county drug task force then went to Juillerat's home on North Lincoln, where they found a Youngstown man, Randolph V.L. Moore Jr.
An April 17 preliminary hearing was also set for Moore, 21, who is charged with tampering with evidence and possession of drugs for allegedly having 40 clonazepam pills in the pocket of his pants, which were in another room.
Moore also allegedly attempted to hide a baggie of suspected crack cocaine under the couch with his feet. He was handcuffed on the couch while police were searching the apartment and reportedly kicked the television remote control under the couch, knocking a baggie underneath at the same time.
Although charges have not yet been filed regarding all the drugs, authorities reportedly found 38 grams of heroin, 15 grams of powdered cocaine and five grams of crack cocaine in the home.
Bond for Juillerat was set at $100,0000 cash or surety. Bond for Moore was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
