WELLSVILLE - Helen Allgood, 73, of Wellsville, died Monday evening, April 7, 2014, at the Nentwick Convalescent Center.
She was born April 8, 1940, in Dubois, Pa., a daughter of the late Lester and Zana (Hewitt) Barr.
Helen worked as a barmaid for the Wellsville VFW. She had also worked on the buffet at KFC and as an aid for the former Fletcher's Nursing Home in Wellsville. She attended the Nazarene Church, was a member of the Wellsville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and was an avid bingo player.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of twenty years, Ralph Allgood, whom she married June 4, 1960. He died on their anniversary in 1980. Also preceding her in death were two grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters: Jane Mays and her husband, Roger, of East Liverpool; Shelda Allgood and her companion, William VanDyke, of Wellsville; Clara Allgood and her companion, Donald Russell, of Wellsville; one son: Ralph Allgood and his companion, Tammy Kent, of Lisbon; one sister: Josephine Lemasters of New Castle, Pa.; two brothers: Harry Barr of Sharon, Pa., and Lester Barr, Jr. of Rochester, N.Y.; Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
