The Review
East Liverpool street employees worked throughout the day Monday, dumping large amounts of sand onto a spill of what officials believed to be hydraulic fuel on Lisbon Street (state Route 267), which was closed between Northside Avenue and Ninth Street. Firefighters responded to the spill and blocked traffic until the street crew could begin the process of cleanup, which will entail scooping up the sand once it absorbs the fluid. Officials were unsure Monday evening how long the street would be closed. The spill reportedly caused one accident when a car going south slid on the oil and into a guardrail. The extent of the driver's injuries was not known. (Photo by Jo Ann Bobby-Gilbert)
