CHESTER-Howard Rex Walker, 82, of Chester, W.Va., passed away at home on March 23, 2014.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1932 in Clifftop, W.Va., son of the late Harry and Clara (Hypes) Walker.
He retired from Crucible Steel, Midland, Pa., with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Northside Community Church where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict as a medic.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Don Walker and David Walker.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys (Adkins) Walker, whom he married July 17, 1955. He is also survived by his son, Terry (Robin) Walker of Chester, three granddaughters, Carla (Michael) Wodnicki of Clarksburg, Kearsten (Darren) Hall of Dudley, England, Clarissa Walker (Mike Dagan) of Chester, W.Va., six great- granddaughters, Michaela, Olivia, and Alexandra Wodnicki, Hannah and Chloee Walker, Kami Hall, and great-grandson, Rylee Hall.
He is also survived by one brother, Gary (Mitzie) Walker of Dixie, W.Va., sisters, Patsy Dorsey, Jean (Sebert) Dorsey, Jane (Larry) Cottrell all of Lizemores, W.Va., Janice (Jimmy) Fitzwater of Glenville, W.Va., Rose (John) Westfall of Orville, Ohio, sister-in-law, Marie Walker of Ravenswood, W.Va., and also by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, W.Va., with Pastor Larry Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Shadow Lawn Cemetery in Newell, W.Va.
Friends may visit the family at Nixon's on Tuesday, March 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to the Wednesday service at 11 a.m.
