The Review
Ryan Smith (middle), a member of Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church in Wellsburg, prepares to put another number on the Smith Oil gas station sign in New Cumberland on Saturday, while the Rev. Bryce Grieco, Brooke Hills lead pastor, and station Assistant Manager Loretta Pickering assist. The church, which is starting a branch congregation in northern Hancock County, offered a “gas buy-down” promotion whereby customers saved 50 cents on every gallon of gasoline up to 15 gallons. Unleaded gas was $3.07 a gallon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The church paid the gas station the balance at the end of the two hours, Grieco said. Northbrooke Church, which replaces the recently-closed New Cumberland Free Methodist Church, will have its grand opening on April 27 at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort.
