The Review
East Liverpool canine officer Ivo sits outside a van, his way of alerting his handler, Patrolman Chad Tatgenhorst, that there are drugs inside. The van was stopped by Patrolman Rob Smith (shown in front of the van) after he recognized the driver, James Nelson, 26, Dewey Avenue, as having no valid driver’s license. The vehicle reeked of marijuana, according to Smith, who called for the K-9 team. Nelson (left) and his passenger (right) JaJuan McKeithen, 39, Norton Street, are shown watching the search of the vehicle, where two marijuana roaches and a clear capsule containing white powder were reportedly found. The capsule will be sent for testing, and McKeithen was charged with possession of marijuana after reportedly claiming the roaches as his. Nelson was charged with driving under suspension, and the vehicle was towed by First Class Towing. The two men were released to await their court dates, and they were picked up at the scene by another person. (Photo by Jo Ann Bobby-Gilbert)
