ZELIENOPLE, Pa. - Alan E. Reed, 77, of Zelienople, Pa., passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014.
Born April 17, 1936, in Middlebourne, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harold and Ethel (Eddy) Reed.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Alan was a retired mechanic for the Civil Service/National Guard, and a member of AARP and the Harmony Zelienople Methodist Church.
Alan enjoyed playing his guitar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Smith) Reed.
Surviving are a son, Brian Reed of Plum, Pa.; a daughter, Lisa Reed of Renfrew, Pa.; three grandchildren, Coty, Amanda and Max; a great-grandchild; and five sisters, Ruth Hardy of Wampum, Pa., Ruby Rowand, of Highpoint, N.C., Mary Dunigan of Oakboro, N.C., Nancy Fuller of Highpoint, N.C., and Sandra Ward of Weirton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell.
Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester.
Military services will be conducted by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.
