YELLOW CREEK - Earlier this week, Yellow Creek township trustees and those seeking the vacant seat on the board received word from Columbiana County Probate Court Judge Thomas M. Baronzzi on his proscribed process for filling it.

The ruling by Baronzzi, long-awaited by trustees and applicants, calls for interested parties to file resumes with the court no later than 4 p.m. March 21. No word was given on when a final decision on an appointee would be forthcoming.

Those who have already filed applications with the township for the seat need not apply again, as their materials have been forwarded to the court. Applicants interested in having an interview with court officials can schedule an appointment by calling the court at 330-424-9516.

"It's all in the judge's hands now," said trustee Kenny Biacco at the board's regular meeting Tuesday evening.

Yellow Creek has been grappling with the vacancy created by the death of trustee David Boyd last November, shortly after he was re-elected to another term on the board. Glenn McKenzie, who was elected to his first term in November, was appointed by Biacco and then-trustee Larry Brewer, to fill in for Boyd until the end of the year, when McKenzie took his elected seat on the board and the defeated Brewer stepped down.
