George E. Cekovich, 76

February 27, 2014
The Review

SOUTH BEAVER TWP., Pa. - Former East Liverpool resident George E. Cekovich, 76, of South Beaver Township passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014. He was born in South Beaver Township, Pa., on Nov. 3, 1937, to the late Thomas P. and Anna (Pavicic) Cekovich.

George was an owner/operator of an 18-wheel trucking business until 1991, when throat cancer forced his retirement. But due to the miracle of Dr. Jonaas Johnson performing radical neck surgery, he was able to enjoy life an additional 23 years.

He was a tumbleweed who loved to travel, hence the trucking and many trips back and forth across the nation, from Florida to Alaska - he had seen them all. He loved to fish and loved his faithful companion Schnauzers: Smoke I, Smoke II, Charlie and Casper.

George will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, Steve and Paul Cekovich, both of Lisbon; Thomas Cekovich and his wife, LuAnn of South Beaver Township; Clair and Beverly Young of South Beaver Township; Connie Delo of Calcutta; John Todorich and his wife, Carol, of Ellwood City; Richard Todorich of Midland; and Melanie A. Todorich of South Beaver Township, with whom he resided. Many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank Barbara Tompkins and Chrystal Claypoole of Medi Home Hospice for their care and compassion.

At his request, private family services were held. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to a humane society of their choice.

Arrangements are being handled by the Dawson Funeral Home.
