James Vankirk

EAST PALESTINE-James E. Vankirk, 73, of South Washington St., formerly of Wellsville, passed away at 5:17 p.m. Monday at the Salem Regional Medical Center, where he had been admitted the day before.

Mr. Vankirk was born Sept. 24, 1940 in Alliance, a son of the late John E. and Gladys M. Callahan Vankirk. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a drill operator with Duncan Brothers Drilling. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by a son, James Patrick Vankirk, Rogers; and two daughters, Tammy Wilson, Negley, and Kimberly Vankirk Elick, of East Palestine. He also leaves seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as a brother John Vankirk, Wisconsin.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday), at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, with a service to be held at the conclusion of calling hours.
