Raymond A. Akins, 94

EAST LIVERPOOL-Raymond A. Akins, 94 of East Liverpool, Ohio passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Assisted Living Ministry in East Liverpool following a lengthy illness.

He was born in East Liverpool on Jan. 23, 1920, a son to the late Albert Ross and Bernadine (Hoping) Akins. He lived his entire life in this area, working as an owner and operator of The Children's Shop. He was a Veteran of the US Army, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carroll Council #0509 and a member of the former St. Aloysius Parish.

Mr. Akins is survived by his daughter: Andrea Copestick and her husband Robert of East Liverpool, Ohio and three grandchildren: Vaughn Copestick of East Liverpool, Ohio, Alicia Henderson and her husband Kinsey of Lexington, Ky. and Alexander Copestick of Dublin, Ohio and one great-grandson: Braiden Henderson of Lexington, Ky.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Alberta (Mullen) Akins whom he married Dec. 28, 1945; four brothers and one sister.

Per Mr. Akins wishes no services or visitation have been planned. The Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes has been entrusted with his arrangements.
