EAST LIVERPOOL - Among items on the agenda for Monday's meeting of the city school board is the resignation of Superintendent James Herring.
The new business item on the agenda states only that Herring will be resigning effective the end of the work day on July 31 and does not include any reference to retirement.
According to Herring's administrative assistant, he has been with the district about three years, taking the helm after Superintendent Ken Halbert resigned.
Prior to coming to the city school district, Herring served as Southern Local's superintendent.
Herring, and board members Larry Walton and Scott Dieringer did not return calls for comment. Board member Bob Estell could not be reached last night, and board President Janice Martin and board member Brian Allen declined to comment. Allen said he would reserve his comments for Monday night.
