Andrew G. “Bunker” McHaffie Sr., 82

GEORGETOWN - Andrew G. McHaffie Sr., 82, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, with family at his side. He was born on Jan. 5, 1932, on the McHaffie Farm in Georgetown, Pa. He was the son of the late Donald W. and Esther (Campbell) McHaffie. He was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, Dad, and Pappy who loved his family more than anything in this world. The memories of all of the wonderful holiday celebrations, tractor rides, and visits to the farm will live in his family's hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Lorna L. McHaffie, who passed away on Jan. 25, 2014, and a sister, Mary Alice Adney (her husband, James, survives).

Surviving are his children, Andrew G. McHaffie Jr., of Hookstown; Shelly Youree and her husband, Cam, of Hookstown; Sheila O'Neill and her husband, Larry, of Hookstown; and daughter-in-law, Mary Anne McHaffie of New Castle. Also surviving are a brother, Dick McHaffie, and a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Donald Doak, all of Georgetown. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Teresa (Michael) Hamilton, Gayle Anne (Jim) Marcy, Ryan (Becky) McHaffie, Laura (Kent) Whitaker, Lance Youree, Ross Youree, Jared (Kelly) O'Neill, Shane O'Neill, and Andi O'Neill. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive: Brittany, Kellen, Melanie, Tyler, Max, Madelyn, A.J., Logan, Ty, Sydney, and one on the way. A special friend, Norma Brandon, of Georgetown, also survives.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. Sunday, at McConnell Funeral Home, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050. His pastor, the Rev. Willard C. Adkins of the Georgetown United Methodist Church, will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
