EAST LIVERPOOL - Janet Early, of East Liverpool, passed away at 9:08 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, of a lengthy illness. Janet was 85.
She was born in Kittanning, Pa., on Aug. 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Elder and Flora Walls Martin. A 1946 graduate of Kittanning High School, Janet moved to Pittsburgh following her marriage to Wayne Melvin Early in 1946. Wayne preceded her in death in 1999.
When her husband took a job with Texaco in the early 1960s, Janet and her family moved to the Hookstown area, where she lovingly cared for her twin sons and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking big meals for family and friends. Janet was a seamstress and also did upholstery work at one time.
A Methodist by faith, Janet had moved from Hookstown to the East Liverpool area in 1990.
Surviving are her two sons, Jerry L. Early of East Liverpool, and Gary W. Early of Raleigh, N.C.
Janet also leaves behind a sister, Martha Galbraith, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and a brother, Junior Martin, of Kittanning; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Four siblings have preceded her in death: Mae Piper, Dewitt Martin, Bill Martin and Jim Martin.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Willard Chuck Adkins of the First Church of Christ (Disciples) officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center immediately following the service.
Janet will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Mateer Cemetery in Kittanning, Pa.
