LISBON-Doyle Gilkinson, 79, of State Route 45, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at Vibra Hospital in Boardman following a long struggle with cancer.
Mr. Gilkinson was born May 2, 1934 in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late Goff and Irene (Murray) Gilkinson.
He was a 1952 graduate of East Liverpool High School.
He drove a steel hauler for Eazor Trucking Company. He later owned and operated his own heavy equipment facility and was also a substitute teacher at the CCJVS.
For many years he was a trainer/instructor for the Ohio-Western Pennsylvania division of Cummins Engine Company.
Mr. Gilkinson had been a member of the Lisbon First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Hardman; son, Eric Gilkinson, and his three children, all of Columbiana; daughter, Lisa Gilkinson of Sorrento, Florida; four children of his previous marriage, Dean Gilkinson of Rockwall, Texas, John Gilkinson of Utica, Michigan, Sondra Butler of Lisbon, and Rhonda Bertschman of Ladson, South Carolina and their children.
He is also survived by his brothers, Glenn and David Lee Gilkinson, both of East Liverpool and by his sister, Karen Sider of Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Following his wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
