February 12, 2014
The Review

Michael Lewis, 30, Caldwell Street, Lisbon, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to burglary from an incident that occurred Dec. 21, 2012. Lewis was charged after he entered a home on South Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, home while a 17-year-old was upstairs and began yelling about the home being his grandmother's.

During Monday's court hearing, Lewis' attorney, Doug King, noted the home did at one time belong to his grandmother and Lewis was having some psychological issues at the time of the break-in, but those are currently under control. He faces up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. Sentencing is set for March 10.

Thomas E. Holman, 33, Hammond School Road, Wellsville, was sentenced to four years intensive probation for possession of drugs for having cocaine concealed in a plastic bag in his hand during a traffic stop on March 20, 2013. His license was suspended for six months.

Jordan A. Flaker, 23, Lake Boulevard, Sebring, pleaded guilty to theft for assisting Derrick Bruce, in stealing TV sets, an RCA home theater system, a flame helmet and a can opener from the Salem Walmart between April 5 and April 18, 2013. The items were valued at $2,782. She faces up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing for Flaker is set for April 21. Bruce previously pleaded guilty to a theft charge in January and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 13.

Kareem J. Dowell, 25, Warren, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after he stipulated to violating his probation for a previous receiving stolen property conviction. Dowell will be allowed to serve the sentence concurrently with one he is currently serving in Trumbull County where he was sentenced to nine months for two counts of possession of heroin. In this county the receiving stolen property charge stemmed from Dowell driving a vehicle on May 11, 2011, which was reported stolen by its owner, Walter Gregory.
