MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Larry Allen "L.J." Haines Jr., 45, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1968, in Morgantown. A son of Larry A. Haines Sr. and Barbara Brotherton Haines Barnum. L.J. graduated from Morgantown High school in 1986, and went on to graduate from West Virginia University College of Business and Economics in 1990 with a degree in finance. After graduating, L.J. went on to pursue many business endeavors and entrepreneurial opportunities, some of which include; Investment Officer Vice President with Huntington Investment Company, co-owner of Turner and Haines Insurance, owner of Storage Inn, South High Station, Fox Run Estates and L.J. Haines Building Company. He was also active in community services and organizations such as past board president for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of North Central West Virginia, United Way, where he was the recipient of the United Way leadership giving "Colonel Award," member of the Mountaineer BNI Chapter, a previous graduate of Morgantown Chamber of Commerce Leadership Monongalia, and he attended Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church.
L.J. was a caring and compassionate person, greatly loved by his family and many friends. While he will be sadly missed, those remaining are comforted in the knowledge of his ascension into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He survived by his wife Jane McIntosh Haines; three children, Elizabeth Ann Haines, Reagan McKenzie Haines, and Cooper Barill Haines, of Morgantown; his parents, Larry Haines Sr. and Barbara and Steve Barnum, all of Morgantown; a brother, Bryan and Jennifer Haines of Charlotte, N.C.; Rachel Haines of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepbrother, Brad and Staci Barnum of Greensboro, Pa.; a stepsister, Shaye and Ryan Heiskell of Columbia, S.C.; grandfathers, Earl Brotherton of Arizona and Allen Haines of Morgantown; three brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Michelle Barill of Morgantown, George W. and Kelly McIntosh of New Cumberland, W.Va., and Chad B. and Janet McIntosh of Salem, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Barill King and Ron King of Florida and Jodie A. and Joe Juszczak of Chester, W.Va; mother-in-law, A. Yvonne Triplett and Bill of New Cumberland.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Amy Beth Barill Haines; grandparents, Mary Brotherton, Virginia and Nick Nicholson, and Nina Haines; mother and father-in-law James and Barbara Barill; and an uncle, Kenny Haines.
Friends may call Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church in Westover Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service hour with Pastor Kevin Cain Officiating.
