Potters, Tigers take to OVAC

East Liverpool will open Ohio Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball tournament play on Tuesday at Steubenville. The Potters are seeded third in the Class 4A bracket with Steubenville seeded second.

East Liverpool lost its two previous meetings with Big Red this season dropping an 87-63 decision on Dec. 13 and a 62-61 one on Dec. 28 in the consolation game of the Potter Holiday Classic.

The winners of that game will meet the winner of Tuesday's St. Clairsville at Union Local game at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Ohio University Eastern in the 4A OVAC final.

Wellsville will also be involved in the OVAC tournament as the Tigers garnered a No. 1 seed in the Class 2A tournament. The Tigers will host Bridgeport on Tuesday. The winner of that game will meet the winner of Caldwell-Wheeling Central at 8 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Ohio University Eastern.

In consolation play, Beaver Local is at Edison and Oak Glen is at Indian Creek on Tuesday. Martins Ferry is at Beaver Local and Edison is at Oak Glen on Feb. 15.
