Officers responded to Dollar General on Walnut Street Thursday night for a report of a shoplifter. The manager reported a man whose identity she knew was in the store and walked out with a bottle of fuel treatment and had also had a quart of oil which he put back when she questioned him. The manager told officers she saw the bottle in his coat pocket as he left the store and also showed them video from the previous day reportedly showing the same man taking a bottle of pain reliever and placing it into his coat pocket. Officers went to the man's residence and spoke to him, saying he admitted being in the store but that the manager had not asked him to replace anything, but had just asked him to leave. Information will be sent to the law director for possible charges.
Tonya Senkbeil, Edgewood Street, reported a man she knows took her vehicle keys and would not return them, telling her he was taking her car to Newell, W.Va. although she had not given him permission to take the car. Charges are pending.
