Scott stands as Tigers' top scorer

WELLSVILLE - Wellsville won with another team effort, but the night belonged to senior Nate Scott.

Scott scored a game-high 25 points and became Wellsville's all-time leading scorer in the Tigers' 82-51 win over Leetonia on Friday.

His career total is 1,388 points, breaking the boys record of 1,385 points set by Tom Wilson in 1984.

Wellsville improves to 15-1 overall and 11-0 in the Inter-Tri County League lower tier. The Tigers will host second-place Lowellville on Tuesday.

Friday's game was close until Scott scored 16 points in the third quarter to spark a 31-13 Tiger outburst that gave them a 26-point lead. He did not play in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Sloan aided the winning effort with 18 points, eight assists and five assists. Camden Douglas had 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds, Jansen Stoakes scored 11 points and Seth Bradford grabbed 11 rebounds. Scott also had four assists.

Trent Ferry had 18 points and Josh Faulkner 13 for the Bears.

Wellsville also won the junior varsity game, 64-48. Justin Miller scored 16 points for the Tigers. Brett Pacella had 12 for the Bears.

Leetonia will play at McDonald on Tuesday.
