Called to Dollar General on Walnut Street Thursday for two shoplifters, officers found the manager outside. She advised the two people were inside, stuffing items into their pockets. The man and woman exited the store while officers were there and asked about the allegations. Edward L. Crow, 37, Newell, W.Va., told officers the tape he had in his pocket was purchased at another store. He also reportedly had three sets of ear buds in his pocket which the manager confirmed had come from the store, as well as the tape. Crow reportedly then admitted he took the tape but had purchased the ear buds at another store. The ear buds were given to the manager and Crow was advised if he returned with his receipt from the other store, they would be returned. He was charged with theft and, at the police station, officers reported finding he also had a lock and a tube of Loctite in his coat. The woman with him reportedly admitted to police she had taken a pair of socks but took them back. She was not charged.
