NEW MANCHESTER, W. Va. - Senior Vanessa Hissam does more than score points for Oak Glen.
Hissam scored her 1,000th career point and turned in an outstanding all-around effort in leading the Golden Bears past Edison, 58-34, Thursday.
Hissam had a game-high 13 points along with 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
"She has been consistent the last four years," Oak Glen coach Scott Wiley said. "She's a hard worker. She worked hard for this."
Hissam reached the milestone in the third quarter and now has 1,002 points in her high school career.
"It's a great accomplishment, like the rest of the ones that did it before her at Oak Glen," Wiley said.
Oak Glen improves to 12-4 on the season.
Hissam had five points in the first quarter as the Golden Bears took a commanding 17-3 lead.
The Bears also had a 19-6 advantage in the third quarter to pull away.
Logan Andrews added 10 points and Alex Arnott nine to the winning effort. Jessica Stivason had eight points and eight rebounds and Tori Feicht made four steals.
Edison won the reserve game, 33-26. Allison Click had 16 points for the Golden Bears.
Oak Glen will play at Steubenville on Monday in an Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Class 4-A semifinal.
