WELLSVILLE - Herbert Le Roy Mitchell, 79 of Wellsville, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana, following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Cadiz, Ohio, a son to the late Earl and Lucy Mitchell.
Herbert was a veteran of the United States Army and was the owner and operator of Mitchell Trucking before he retired in 1996.
He is survived at home by his wife Juanita (Grimm) Mitchell whom he married on Aug. 1, 1969; two sons: Randy Le Roy Mitchell and his wife Rebecca and Gary Homer Mitchell and his wife Karen both of Wellsville; and four grandchildren: Jason L. Mitchell and his wife Shelly, Jessica Jones and her husband Paul, Bradley H. Mitchell and his wife Jaime and Zachary E. Mitchell; and two great-grandchildren: Tanner Jones and Olivia Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Velma C. (Binger) Mitchell; four brothers and two sisters.
Per Mr. Mitchell's wishes, no calling hours or services are planned.
The Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes has been entrusted with his arrangements.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial dinner at Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, from 4-7 p.m.
