Congratulations are in order for two area high school wrestlers - Alex Potts and John Miscuk, both East Liverpool student-athletes.
The duo captured OVAC titles in their respective weight classes last weekend - Potts at 106-pounds and Miscuk at 195.
It's not often when the Potters have crowned two champions in the same season. In fact, it hadn't occurred at the OVAC event since 1997.
Potts is 32-1 after his 4-2 decision against Shadyside's Greg Quinn, while Miscuk upped his mark to 22-6 after a 9-5 decision against Steubenville Catholic's Isaac Sanford.
The two young men are to be commended on the dedication it takes to compete on the mats - learning of the discipline while also maintaining the needed mental stability.
Being crowned an OVAC wrestling champion is high reward as athletes from nearly 40 schools compete and only 14 individuals each season stand atop the podium. In fact, the two are the first ELHS wrestlers to claim titles since 2010.
Potts and Miscuk should be proud of the accomplishment.
