NEW CUMBERLAND - Two Pittsburgh men were arrested on drug charges Wednesday after they were seen driving at a high rate of speed on state Route 2 between Weirton and New Cumberland.

Keith A. Morrow, 24, and his passenger, Jonathan William Chaz Engel, 24, both of Pittsburgh, face charges of transporting a controlled substance across state lines, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to transport a controlled substance across state lines, and conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher said.

Morrow and Engel also were charged with reckless driving for allegedly driving 88 mph in a 55 mph zone, the sheriff's department said.

Hancock County 911 Dispatch received a call from a motorist at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday about a blue Ford Taurus with Utah license plates driving recklessly in the northbound lane of Route 2 near the intersection of Kings Creek Road, the department said.

A sheriff's deputy responded and clocked a vehicle matching the reported description traveling in excess of 88 mph, Fletcher said.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop near the south side of New Cumberland and called for backup from a K-9 unit. When the dog signaled a positive reaction, Morrow surrendered a small baggie containing a substance believed to be marijuana, Fletcher said.

"Upon further search of the occupants and the vehicle," Fletcher said, "the officers located an additional two packages of what is believed to be more than two pounds of marijuana, along with $7,000 in cash."

Morrow and Engel were arrested and are awaiting arraignment.
