Mildred M. White, 91

CHESTER - Mildred M. White, 91 of Chester, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Stone Pear Pavilion at Fox Crest in Chester following a brief illness. Her husband Walter D. White, who she had spent 63 wonderful years in marriage with, passed on Feb. 11, 2005.

Mildred was a very community minded person and she worked tirelessly to make Chester a better place to raise a family, live and work.

Along with her daughter Susan, she was responsible for raising thousands and thousands of dollars which directly benefited the city of Chester through its playgrounds and the City Park as well as the Chester Lions Club.

Mildred was a lifelong resident of the area and was born in Newell on Feb. 7, 1922, to the late Guy and Alice Cronin Shilling.

She had worked at the former Olsen's Department store in East Liverpool and last worked as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank in East Liverpool.

Mildred was a long time member of the Chester First Christian Church and had been attending the Northside Community Church in East Liverpool.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Susan Badgley Hineman and husband Tom of Chester; her son, Walter R. White and wife Anita of Skyesville, Md.; her grandchildren, David (Shawna) Spencer, Kristie (Rob) Severs, Michael (Susie) White, and Christopher (Sherri) White; and her great-grandchildren, David Cole Spencer, Millie Victoria Severs, and Sarah, Lauren, Becca, and Griffin White.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Violet Strosnider; and her brothers, Ray, Guy, and Robert Shilling.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester with Pastor Larry Rose officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. Mildred's interment will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell following the Wednesday services.
