MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John T. Morris, of Inwood, W.Va., formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, 2014, at the Berkley Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va. He was 72.
Born in Wellsville, July 13, 1941, he was a son of the late Charles and Ada Cole Morris. A member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1959, he served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He returned to the area after the war and worked at the former Crucible Steel Company for 19 years until 1982. He then earned an accounting degree from the Ohio Valley Business College and moved to Inwood, W.Va., in 1990 where he was working for JD Kitchens Bath & More as a controller.

His family all knew him as "Pete" and he enjoyed working on cars with his father and brothers. At one time, he was a member of the Moose Lodge 122.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Northrup Morris, at home. There are three children: a daughter Lyn Stehr, and her husband Joe, of Charlestown, W.Va.; and two sons, Chris Morris, and his wife Lana, of Rapid City, S.D., and Doug Morris of East Liverpool.
There are seven grandchildren: Doug Stehr, Amanda Romine, and Jana, Jason, Joel and Austin Morris, and Grant Blazer; as well as two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Lee Morris.
Other survivors include a brother, David Morris, and his wife Theresa, of Wellsville, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Wayne Morris.
Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rev. Norman Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell, West Virginia where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
