EAST LIVERPOOL -Martha B. Hunt, 90 of East Liverpool, died on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
Born in Jacksonburg, W.Va., on April 20, 1923, Martha was a daughter of the late James W. and Delcie Kyle Davis.
Following high school, she entered the U.S. Army and served her country in Germany and the Pacific theater during the Korean conflict. After honorable discharge from the Army, she began working for the US. Dept. of Agriculture and became a homemaker. Later she managed a motel in Tucson, Ariz., and became a landlord with several rental properties. At one time she even served as a nurse's aide. She finally retired as a cook from the Golden Star Dairy land in East Liverpool after also cooking at the former Elite Dinner. Also, she had volunteered for several years with the East Liverpool City Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband, William HA Hunt Jr., preceded her in death on May 23, 1969. Several brothers and sisters, half brothers and sisters, and stepchildren also preceded her in death.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.
Pastor Tom Schneidmiller will celebrate Martha's life on Monday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. The family welcomes friends to join them at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment will follow the Monday services at the Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell where the National Guard and the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will give full military honors.
