LISBON - A Negley woman's vehicle was totaled Wednesday evening after it was struck by a Norfolk Southern train while stuck on the crossing on a private drive in Salem Township.

According to the county sheriff's office, Courtney M. Eberly, state Route 170, Negley, was crossing the tracks going northbound just south of Old Route 558 in her 2006 Jeep Liberty. The undercarriage of her vehicle became stuck on the tracks and a westbound train later struck vehicle.

Eberly reportedly got out of her vehicle before it was struck, possibly to go look for someone to help her get it off the tracks. The crash was reported by Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Eberly was cited with insufficient clearance of undercarriage to cross a railroad crossing safely.

The Norfolk Southern train, conducted by Eric Klingensmith, Monaca, Pa., was not damaged by the impact.
