Common Pleas Reports for 12-18

The Review

In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Chris Hicks, 29, Erie Street, East Liverpool, pleaded no contest to two counts of trafficking in drugs for 100 doses of heroin and 7.6 grams of marijuana in his possession with the intent to resell on Nov. 5, 2012. He faces up to four years in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $12,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Feb. 14.

Carl C. Payne Jr., 60, Maplewood Avenue, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering for going into the garage of John Farnsworth on May 17. He faces up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Feb. 13.

Michael J. Spencer, 26, Haessly Road, Hanoverton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. He was sentenced to three years of intervention in lieu of conviction. Spencer had morphine in his possession on March 7.

Alexander C. Converse, Hilltop Drive, Lisbon, was found in violation of the terms of his intervention in lieu of conviction. He was placed on probation until July 2016 and his license was suspended for six months. Converse had pleaded guilty in July 2012 to possession of drugs and three counts of trafficking in drugs.

James L. Cecena, 29, North Lundy Avenue, Salem, was sentenced to three years probation for receiving stolen property. Cecena has pawned a one-carat diamond solitaire white gold ring at Cashland in Salem on March 6, 2012. The ring was stolen from his friend, Ciera Rice.

Chase H. Williams, 24, Eels Street, Rogers, was sentenced to four years probation for improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle. Williams had a loaded handgun in his vehicle on Feb. 17, when he was intoxicated.

Larry D. Striffler, 32, Mingo Junction, was placed on four years probation for non-support of dependents. Striffler reportedly owed more than $12,669 as of March 2, 2011.

Christy Phillips, 36, West Perry Street, Salem, was found in violation of her probation for convictions of possession of drugs and four counts of trafficking in drugs. She was sentenced to 15 months in Marysville Correctional Facility for Women with credit given for 182 days served. She had been accused of having hydrocodone, cocaine and heroin for sale in April 2011.

William D. Sherrill, 27, Lisbon Street, Columbiana, had his probation revoked and was sentenced to nine months in prison and credited with 151 days served for two counts of possession of drugs. Sherrill had both oxycodone and alprazolam in his possession in June 2011.
