Robert G. Blankenship, 81

EAST LIVERPOOL - Mr. Robert G. Blankenship, 81, of East Liverpool, died at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born Oct. 23, 1932, in Toronto, a son of the late Guy Wordis Blankenship and Lettie Belle Headley Blankenship, he attended the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 374 in East Liverpool.

For many years he worked at the former Globe Brick Company as the human resources manager.

His wife, Madge Blankenship, passed away Sept. 23, 2011. The couple married Oct. 26, 1951.

Surviving is a son, Robert G. Blankenship II and his wife, Debbie, of East Liverpool; along with four grandchildren, Abby Blankenship of Pittsburgh, Pa., Evan Blankenship of Nashville, Tenn., Erin Solack and her husband, Cal of Columbus, and Lara Blankenship of Columbus; and a daughter-in-law, Paula Blankenship of Center Township, Pa. There are three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hudson and Sloane Solack.

A sister survives as well, Lula Mae Rawson, and her husband Bob, of Toronto.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Bruce Blankenship; a sister Mildred Smith; and a brother, Oris Blankenship.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rev. Paul Treese will conduct a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial is to be in Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center following the services.
