EAST LIVERPOOL - Harold F. Baldwin, formerly of Hill Boulevard, long time East Liverpool educator, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the Nentwick Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness. He was 93. Born in East Liverpool, Dec. 17, 1919, he was a son of the late Harold D. and Roma Hendricks Baldwin.
A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1937, he graduated from Geneva College with highest honors. He then received his Master's Degree from Youngstown State University and furthered his education at the University of Pittsburgh and The Ohio State University.
Harold was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army from 1941-45.
For 37 years, he worked as a teacher with the East Liverpool School District.
His many civic and professional activities included the East Liverpool Education Association, Ohio Education Association, Ohio and American Vacation Association, Occupational Work Experience Coordinators Association, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Columbiana County Retired Teachers Association, East Liverpool Board of Realtors and the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.
Harold was a member of the former Penn Avenue United Methodist Church where he taught the Welcome Class, and was a member of the Administrative Board, Finance Committee, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Counselor, Financial Secretary and usher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Lawrence Baldwin, on Sept. 27, 2003. The couple married Aug. 22, 1948. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Paul E. Baldwin.
He will be missed by his many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to East Liverpool High School Alumni Association scholarship fund.
