Highway Patrol for 12-5

Joyce E. Bott, 73, Depot Road, Salem, was southbound on North Ellsworth Avenue in Perry Township at 10:35 a.m. Monday and was crossing the U.S. 62 intersection when she was struck by Rich D. Boring, 43, who was eastbound on U.S. 62 and failed to stop at the light. Bott was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Jared S. Whalen, 19, Enon Valley, Pa., was southbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 4 a.m. Nov. 27 and went off the east edge of the road and over an embankment.

Jeffery P. Brucker, 47, Mattix Road, Lisbon, reported he was eastbound on Mattix Road in Center Township at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and stuck in a ditch when he was struck by a vehicle that also went off the road and into the ditch.

Andrew Leo Diaz, 23, Mick Road, Wellsville, was northbound on Foundry Hill Road in Franklin Township at 10 p.m. Saturday and went off the west side into a tree. He was cited for failure to control.

Robert E. Layman, 40, Pond Street, East Liverpool, was driving down a long ice and snow covered private drive at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hanover Township when he lost control of the vehicle and jumped out before it traveled down the drive and across Laughlin Mill Road and into a tree. No citations were issued since the accident occurred on private property.

Ryan D. McCall, 48, state Route 7, New Waterford, was southbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and went off the right edge into a yard.

Kyle Smith, 55, Eagleton Road, Lisbon, was southbound on the on ramp from state Route 154 in Elkrun Township at 4:35 p.m. Nov. 27 and went off the left side into a concrete bridge and the median. He was cited for failure to control.

A clerk at the Circle K reported there was a suspicious person lurking about outside near the car wash at 2:41 a.m. Tuesday. Police found Floyd Gilmore Jr., who said he was going to the Steel Trolley for coffee.

Police responded to a vehicle accident on Thomas Road at 2 a.m. Saturday and came across a vehicle in a ditch a quarter mile outside town. The highway patrol was notified and troopers handled the crash.
