Two Hancock County communities are gearing up for their annual Christmas parades-Chester's on Saturday and New Cumberland's on Dec. 14.
The theme for Saturday's Chester Hometown Christmas Celebration is "Celebrating the Holidays in West Virginia."
The parade begins at 2 p.m., and lineup is at 1 p.m. The parade will begin at First Street and continue down Carolina Avenue. Registration is at Virginia Avenue and Third Street.
Children's bingo will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the basement of Chester VFW Post 6450. Craft shows will be held at the Lynn Murray Memorial Library and American Legion Post 121 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call City Clerk Sandra Parkins at 304-387-2820.
The theme for this year's New Cumberland Christmas parade on Dec. 14 is "Silver Bells."
The parade begins at 5 p.m., and lineup is at 4 p.m. The parade will begin at Second Avenue and Marshall Street, continue down Ridge Avenue and conclude at the New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department on North Chester Street. Deadline for registering a float is Dec. 11.
