Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 11-21

Julia Landon, U.S. Route 62, Salem, reported at 8:28 p.m. Saturday two men attempted to break into her trailer, but were gone before deputies arrived. They reportedly left at a high rate of speed in a "brownish" SUV.

Elton Zeller, Buck Road, Beloit, reported at 3:07 a.m. Monday cows were in the roadway on Hartley Road near Bandy Road. The cows were in a field when deputies arrived. The owner of the cows, Bart Steiger, Hartley Road, Alliance, was contacted and deputies helped him get the cows into a pasture. A tree had fallen on a fence, allowing the cows to escape.

Jeff Hoey, Laughlin Road, Lisbon, reported at 4:40 p.m. Monday sometime since Nov. 4 someone broke into the garage on the property and took a Dewalt radial arm saw and a six-gallon gas can.

A Winona Road, Salem, mother reported at 4:40 p.m. Monday her son was out of control and not listening. He reportedly threatened to stab his mother and kill her daughter. The 17-year-old boy was taken into custody and transported to the Tobin Center.

David L. Valiquette, Kirk Road, Columbiana, reported at 5:46 p.m. Tuesday he found his back door glass broken out. A 1911 Sig Sauer .45-caliber handgun, a 8 mm Mauser Yugo rifle, a Horton Zombie rip crossbow and $50 were missing.

Carol Hough, Church Hill Road, Lisbon, reported at 9:18 p.m. Monday someone trespassing on their property. Ed Hough, who according to deputies was intoxicated, said he was in the woods shortly before dark and someone shot at him. He had been chasing them through the woods, but had no description of the shooter. He also claimed to hear an arrow go whistling past his head causing him to duck.

Rachel Mullett, Pleasantview, Lisbon, reported at 12:21 p.m. Monday an assault at Whitestone Ministry. Mullett said her roommate has become increasingly agitated recently and on Monday she was running through the halls, slamming doors and screaming. They argued and the roommate began kicking and hitting her, then grabbed a pair of scissors and raised them in a threatening manner. She calmed down with the assistance of a counselor. She was warned about domestic violence laws.

Elizabeth Barrett, Old Route 14, Columbiana, reported at 9:01 a.m. Tuesday she ordered some clothing through the mail and received an e-mail on Monday saying her package was delivered. When she arrived home the package and the rest of her mail were missing.

Theresa Scarsella, North Meadow Brooke Circle, Calcutta, reported at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday her daughter's purse was stolen during lunch in the cafeteria at Beaver Local High School. The purse contained $50, keys, a driver's license, military ID and school ID.
