It may seem a small act - damage to a soda machine - to result in the installation of security cameras, but we commend Liverpool Township Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Bahen for his quick reaction.
This type of vandalism, if not halted soon, may result in the culprit doing something a bit more harsh.
This person, knowing - to this point - he succeeded in this small act of crime, may try and step his actions up a bit.
Perhaps it leads to further damage to the VFD facility and its equipment, or perhaps a rash of vandalism throughout the LaCroft community.
We don't want to see that happen.
The installation of security cameras won't necessarily make it not happen, either. We understand that. But if this person felt the need and had the confidence to do damage to something on township property once, chances are he will have the confidence to try and get away with something similar again.
And the installation of these cameras could thwart that from happening.
