WELLSVILLE - In a game that saw 103 points scores, 21 penalty flags thrown, and more momentum swings than one can count, Wellsville rolled over Jackson Milton 68-35 to improve to 5-0 for the first time since the 1990s.
With the score notched at 28 at the half, quarterback Jeremy Fitzpatrick lead the Bluejays on a 69-yard, eight minute drive that saw him connect with Thomas Gatewood in the end zone for an 11-yard score.
The touchdown gave his team the lead 35-28, but that score would be their last. Wellsville rolled off the next 40 points en route to the blowout win.
On Wellsville's first drive of the second half, the Tigers drove the ball to the Jackson Milton 5-yard-line before stalling on fourth down.
After the change of possession, Jackson Milton's Tyler Shaffer fumbled the hand-off from Fitzpatrick, and Wellsville's George Anderson returned it for the touchdown. It was all Wellsville from then on out.
Seth Bradford started off the Tigers scoring for the night, hauling in a 31 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Jordan Sloan on the opening drive. The Bluejays responded quickly with a two-minute drive of their own, with Fitzpatrick and Gatewood hooking up for a 37 yard score.
The teams combined for 12 more scores from that point on. Seven different Tigers scored touchdowns in this game, the last coming on a 56 yard touchdown run by freshman Branzen Grodhaus.
Wellsville kicker Cavan LeMasters scored the 100th point of his high school career on an extra point in the fourth quarter. The senior has been the starting kicker for the Tigers all four years of his high school career.
Bluejays quarterback Jeremy Fitzpatrick's first year of football came in 2012. The then junior threw for 1970 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is on pace to eclipse both marks this year.
Jackson Milton has never beaten Wellsville. The all-time series stands at 7-0 in favor of the Tigers, the closest score came in 2008 when the Tigers came out on top 21-12.
The Tigers are 2-0 in the Inter-Tri County League lower tier. Wellsville will finish its seaosn with four of five games on the road, including next week's game at Lowellville.
Jackson-Milton falls to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in the ITCL, and will host Sebring.
