Three people were arrested Thursday night after an officer on patrol reported seeing a vehicle leave Walmart with no license plate that then traveled left of center when turning onto Westfield Road. The driver, Sara E. Hawes, 23, Sunnyside Street, told the officer she was having a hard time seeing at night. She was not charged. Her passengers were checked for warrants and Gene B. Wright, 29, New Cumberland, W.Va., reportedly gave a false name, but an officer knew his actual identity and found he had outstanding warrants. He was charged with the warrant, obstructing official business and possession of drug abuse instruments after the officers said a spoon with a burned bottom and residue on the top was found at his feet as he exited the vehicle. Passenger Serena Jacobs, 21, New Manchester, W.Va., was charged with obstructing official business for reportedly telling officer's Wright's name was Brandon, even though they are a couple. Passenger Thomas B. Wells, 29, Chester, had an outstanding warrant.
