EAST LIVERPOOL - Deanna Gay Brooks, who resided on Smith Street in the Glenmoor section of the city, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital. Deanna, who was 70, had battled cancer for several years.
Born in East Liverpool on Sept. 9, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Dana W. and Nellie R. Eberhart Brooks. She was raised in Chester and was graduated from the former Chester High School in 1961, just prior to moving to the East Liverpool area, where she remained. Through the years, Deanna still enjoyed getting together with her classmates, the "Lunch Bunch."
For many years, she had been associated with Brad's Carpet and Upholstery, working primarily in the office. Deanna had also worked at Giant Eagle and also Hill's Department Store at one time and was a member of the Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving is her son, Robert D. "Bob" Brooks, of East Liverpool, and his companion, Heather Flinn, of Salem, who lovingly supported Deanna throughout her recent illness. Also surviving are two grandsons, Andy Brooks of East Liverpool and Austin Brooks, currently attending college in North Carolina. They were her pride and joy, and she loved being a part of their many activities through the years, especially their sporting events.
The family deeply appreciates all the care and support Deanna received, and for the many kindnesses that will not be forgotten.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 4-8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church, officiating.
Deanna will be laid to rest beside her parents at Calcutta U.P. Cemetery, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
