CHESTER - Kathleen "Kathy" Huston, 72 of Chester, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the Weirton Geriatric Center in Weirton following a lengthy illness.
Born in Akron, on Aug. 8, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Audie Hicks Ferrell.
She had worked at the American Legion Post 121 in Chester since 1993 as a bartender and she had become quite famous among the patrons there for her home cooking.
A Christian by faith, Kathy was very active in the American Legion and VFW Women's Auxiliary and she will always be remembered for placing the wreaths during the Memorial Day services in Chester and at Locust Hill Cemetery.
Sisters Irene Johns and June Svet preceded her in death.
Kathy leaves her loving family including her children, Deborah (Joseph) Huska, Pamela (Jimi) Shingler and Kimberly (Benjamin Sr.) Locke all of New Cumberland, Jolene (Steve) Orgovan of Weirton, Bradley McDougle and his companion Diane Roupe of New Cumberland and Mark (Michelle) McDougle of New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Cody Goodlin, Briann Locke, Jessica, Christopher, and Zachary Orgovan, and Vanessa Hissam; and her great-grandchild, Carter Goodlin.
The Rev. Ethel Dunaway will celebrate Kathy's life at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where friends are welcome to visit with the family on Thursday from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m.
