EAST LIVERPOOL - The autumn season will be kicked off again this year with the third annual Oktoberfest from noon-8 Saturday at Thompson Park, with a full slate of activities planned.
Sponsored by the Calcutta and East Liverpool Rotary, the event will feature 10 different types of seasonal beers and three types of wine, as well as 10 food vendors selling a variety of German foods such as pretzels, bratwurst, and apple streusel, as well as popular American goodies like hamburgers, lemon shakes, chicken and baked goods and Cuban sandwiches.
From noon until 4, music will be provided at Pavilion No. 1 by DJ. Rand, followed from 4-8 p.m. by "Mr. Oktoberfest" Joe Maloy, a one-man band featuring polka music.

Between 30 and 40 craft vendors are expected to be offering their wares, according to Rotarian David Bickerton.
For the younger set, a free bounce house will be offered from noon until 4, with pony rides available during the same time for $2.
Festival-goers will be able to shop in the pumpkin patch and then decorate them, and free face painting will be offered.
Horse and carriage rides and train rides will be offered for $1 per person from noon until 6.
All proceeds from the annual event go to Rotary charity projects and scholarships for East Liverpool and Beaver Local students, according to Bickerton, who said, "Hopefully, we'll get a good turn-out and the weather will be good."
