Three people were arrested after police received a report of someone breaking a beer bottle in the Lepper Library parking lot at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday. Police caught up with a pickup truck matching the description on state Route 164 near the village water treatment plant and found it was being driven by a man by the name of Rummel, who was taken into custody on an arrest warrant out of Carroll County. The other person in the front seat, Josie R. Saddler, 24, of Canton, was charged with having an open container of beer in a motor vehicle. In the truck bed asleep was James M. Austin, 21, of Massillon, who was charged with marijuana possession after a pipe and suspected marijuana were found on him. Saddler reportedly had some sort of seizure upon being told she was under arrest and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
David G. Gasior, 40, who lives at the homeless shelter on Maple Street, was arrested for public intoxication for posing a risk to himself at 8 p.m. Monday after police received a call from South Lincoln Avenue residents.
The mother of a sixth-grade student reported Monday her son was being harassed by a seventh-grader, who has threatened to take his lunch money and bicycle. He also threatened to egg his home, and she said their house happened to be egged that day. The woman intends to also inform the principal.
