OHIOVILLE - Wilbert Basinger, 98, of Ohioville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at his home with his daughter and family at his side.
Born Dec. 27, 1914, in Midland, he was a son of the late John 'Jack' and Edith Long Basinger, and had been a resident of Ohioville for most of his life. He was a real estate and insurance agent for over 60 years, having founded and operated the Basinger Agency, Midland since 1973. A US Army veteran, he served during WWII. He was a member of the Elks, Lion's Club, Glasgow Lodge 485 past master 1958, American Legion, Beaver County Association of Realtors for over 50 years, and Shriners International.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, was his wife, Grace G. Basinger on Aug. 3 1990; a brother, Beryl Basinger; and two sisters Olive George and Marie Kruger.
He is survived by a son, Russel Basinger and wife Cheryl; a daughter, Barbara Cramer, all of Ohioville; two grandchildren, Renee (Daniel) Wolf, and David Basinger, both of Brighton Township; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Wolf; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) by the Rev. Richard Raines. Entombment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hans Fuchs, Dr. Paul Pupi, Dr. Michael Heinle, as well as the Vitas Hospice nurses and staff, and the nurses at Heritage Valley Beaver and Friendship Ridge, for the loving care they gave to Wilbert.
