EAST LIVERPOOL - Donald Gilbert Royer 77, of East Liverpool, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lynn, Mass., on Oct. 29, 1935, a son of the late Joseph and Laura (Gallien) Royer.
Living most of his life in the area, Mr. Royer was a truck driver for J and J Freight, retiring in 1997. He was a veteran of the US Navy and National Guard.
His wife, Nora Kathryn (Howell) Royer survives him at home. They were married April 22, 1961. Surviving are two sons, Donald Emerson Royer and his wife, Ann of Simpsonville, S.C., and William Joseph Royer and his wife Deborah Anne of Sterling, Va.; two brothers, Wilfred Royer of New Jersey and Raymond Royer of Massachusetts; and a sister, Louise La Blanc of Massachusetts.
Along with his parents four brothers, Walter Royer, Albert Royer, Louis Royer and Earnest Royer; and two sisters, Rena Robichad and Rita Richards, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Wagner of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, from 6-8 p.m.
