Two of the hardest working and loyal players in the NFL were thrown under the bus this year - Brian Urlacher, formerly of the Chicago Bears, was released by the team, and Wes Welker, formerly of the New England Patriots, is now with the Denver Broncos.
Urlacher has resigned himself to the facts and is headed into retirement, but Welker showed everyone he still has it in Denver's victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Denver and Manning can't believe their good fortune.
It just stinks how corporations treat people today, whether millionaires like these two or "Joe Lunchbox," just trying to get by.
The only difference is these two can afford it. What about all the steel workers who had their mills sold for scrap and them put on the street. Severstal is just the latest of the owners who bought these wonderful mills and shut them down so as to ship their own products in from India, Russia and who knows where else. Somehow they now control Weirton, all the Wheeling-Pitt mills and Republic in Warren. You might think this is being thrown under the bus too, but oh no it's not over yet.
Our corporate leaders are talking about part-time jobs to defeat Obamacare. Yes, 29 hours and no benefits. Now we're starting to talk under the bus. You lost your job through no fault of your own and now you're looking for a new job and all there is on the horizon is $8 to $10, part-time and no benefits. And don't forget your duty to keep the economy going by buying cars, houses and appliances. These corporate leaders must use a different math than the rest of us, or will they destroy our whole system with this "just to get anybody but Obama insanity."
If you drive down any main street of any town in this valley from Midland to Bellaire, you'll see it's already broken and quite possibly destroyed today. Empty store fronts, parking lots, drug and alcohol abuse and the only revenue is welfare and retirements. Corporate America has a plan to stop that little bit of prosperity. You pay into Social Security all your life, but now it's considered a handout to be thrown out under the bus too.
City, county and state representatives talk about everything that they're doing to help, but lets face facts, it sucks here now, plain and simple, and it's getting worse by the day.
People don't realize it yet, but this is our collapse of the Roman Empire, and history will surely show that we were completely out of our minds.
