EAST LIVERPOOL - Certificates of appropriateness for new signage were granted to two downtown businesses this week by the Design Review Board.
Kent State University sought permission to add a digitally printed mesh banner to its building facade near the corner facing state Route 39 which will be affixed using steel brackets.
The board was advised the system proposed for hanging the sign is the same as that used for signage at Akron General Hospital, Sherwin-Williams Cleveland, OSU Schotts Center and, most recently, at the Akron Aeros. The sign was approved as presented.
Brenda Schneider, owner of Dance Connection at 315 Market Street, requested permission to cover an existing painted sign on the side of her building stating "Appliance Parts" with her business logo.
The sign will have a black background with a pink dancer logo, lettering and phone number, and she advised the board this is a "critical time" for her business for advertising for and registering new students, so she would like to have the sign finished as soon as possible.
The board also approved this request.
