Domestic violence charges were to be filed against the boyfriend of Erika R. Ashby, 29, Beaver Street after she reported he choked her and dragged her down the stairs after she confronted him about having another girl's cell phone. The man, unidentified in reports, had left prior to officers' arrival but he did call the police station and was advised to turn himself in. He reportedly told officers he would have to first speak with his father.
Thomas C. Cowdery, 41, Warren Avenue, was charged Monday with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers stopped a vehicle driven by Bernard Jenkins, Warren Avenue, for no turn signal as he turned from Bradshaw onto Avondale Street. Cowdery was a passenger in the vehicle and had reportedly been seen leaving a house known for drug sales just prior to the traffic stop. He was patted down for officers' safety and they reported he had a metal pipe in his boot. Jenkins was cited for the turn signal violation.
Dustin C. Hambleton, 29, Y&O Road, was charged Monday with possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer patrolling Avondale Street stopped at the home of Jenny Olmstead, for whom there was an active warrant. He reported Olmstead was found lying on the porch with Hambleton, who appeared to be sleeping or passed out. When Olmstead was advised she was under arrest, Hambleton reportedly began reaching into the front of his shorts. When he was patted down, officers found Hambleton had a "well used" crack pipe, according to reports.
